New York Times Spiked Obama Donor Story Part Two

Posted by Platte GOP in Untagged

Continued from FloppingAces.Net

The ACORN head honchos dismiss her as merely a “disgruntled employee”, emphasizing her own sketchy past to diss the messenger. She was let go when she put $3000 approx on the company expense account. She has apologized and is making recompense for the misappropriated funds.

Seems rather harsh in light of the admitted ACORN scandal by founder, Wade Rathke… who kept his brother Dale on the ACORN payroll for a decade, and covered up his embezzlement of $1 million to not only the public, but to the ACORN inner circle themselves. Obviously, Ms. Moncrief was disadvantaged by no ties to Rathke at birth. But the double standard is undeniable. If they can cover up a mil, keeping on what would be a loyal ACORN worker willing to pay back $3000 in expenses should be a no brainer.

Since her last days in ACORN and life post-ACORN, Ms. Moncrief’s open transfer of the inside knowledge wealth has spoken for itself. Her exposé of ACORN isn’t because of her expense incident… it is to reveal the political power grab by a non-profit, using the poor as their mantra.

Congressional Testimony: ‘Game-Changer’ Article Would Have Connected Campaign With ACORN
By Michael P. Tremoglie, The Bulletin
Monday, March 30, 2009
A lawyer involved with legal action against Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) told a House Judiciary subcommittee on March 19 The New York Times had killed a story in October that would have shown a close link between ACORN, Project Vote and the Obama campaign because it would have been a “a game changer.”

Heather Heidelbaugh, who represented the Pennsylvania Republican State Committee in the lawsuit against the group, recounted for the ommittee what she had been told by a former ACORN worker who had worked in the group’s Washington, D.C. office. The former worker, Anita Moncrief, told Ms. Heidelbaugh last October, during the state committee’s litigation against ACORN, she had been a “confidential informant for several months to The New York Times reporter, Stephanie Strom.”

ACORN and the Banks: Dangerous Liaisons

by Anita Moncreif

Anyone who has ever seen a Lifetime Movie marathon or any cheesy drama will tell you that when one is out with their wife and the mistress walks past, you look the other way. Or at least try to keep them away from each other. Well, Bertha Lewis arrived in town with ACORN members on Monday, and one can only imagine the tense timing on the Hill yesterday for ACORN as some of the “partners” were being grilled by Congress

Out of the eight CEOs present yesterday, four are or were involved with ACORN and ACORN Housing.

Representative Barrett (R-SC) stated:

"You owe my constituents an explanation of how you got yourselves into this position and what you're doing with their money."

Of course, this is a great question, but the answer may be more than the constituents are ready to digest.

Federal lawyers have asked a judge to dismiss a lawsuit they filed against Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan alleging that she hadn’t properly managed state voter rolls.

The Justice Department contended in 2005 that Missouri voter registration officials had failed to purge ineligible voters from the rolls and pointed to counties that had more registrations than eligible voters.

Rotten ACORN America’s Bad Seed By The Employment Policies Institute

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now is a non-profit (but not federally
tax-exempt) organization at the center of a vast web of groups run by long-time anti-corporate activist Wade Rathke and a handful of his closest allies. In total, the Employment Policies Institute has documented more than 75 organizations run by the Rathke/ACORN empire—almost all run out of one office at 1024 Elysian Fields in New Orleans.

ACORN operates in at least 38 states, as well as in Canada, Mexico, and Peru, and is integral in a fight to prevent Foreign Direct Investment in India. Rathke said ACORN plans to continue its growth by adding offices in 100 new cities over the next five years1, after seeing 100 percent growth in offices between 2003 and 2004. ACORN claims 200,000 member families (though member dues only account for eight percent of the organization’s massive budget2), and represents approximately 80,000 union members. It operates “social justice” radio stations, community television groups, and a magazine. It runs home mortgage and tax counseling centers, a voter-mobilization organization, left-wing schools, a furniture company, a consulting
firm, and a law/lobbying firm.
